How to Save the World with a T-shirt pt 2 numbers « Not The Real Poor Souls Society
I will break it all down and give you the numbers on a small event fundraiser, raising money through T-shirts.
Here is an example of a printing price list for contract repeat cutomers
figure double if you are a one time customer
but once you get to the 1000 piece level even a guy off the street can get contract pricing
especially if you have a non profit type group that will do multiple events
Printing cost
$ 20.00 screens 1st time for each color
T-shirts & Flat Goods cost per print $ 10.00 reset cost on repeat orders, no screen charge
$ 10.00 proof sample shirt before actual run
1/C 2/C 3/C 4/C 5/C 6/C $ 2.00 drop ship / pr box
12-35 $ 2.00 $ 2.50 $ 3.00 $ 3.50 $ 4.00 $ 4.50 $ 10.00 color match
36-71 $ 1.05 $ 1.25 $ 1.50 $ 1.75 $ 2.05 $ 2.25
72-143 $ 0.75 $ 0.95 $ 1.15 $ 1.35 $ 1.50 $ 1.70
144-287 $ 0.55 $ 0.80 $ 1.00 $ 1.20 $ 1.35 $ 1.50 add per print
288-999 $ 0.50 $ 0.70 $ 0.85 $ 1.00 $ 1.15 $ 1.30
1000-2499 $ 0.40 $ 0.60 $ 0.75 $ 0.90 $ 1.05 $ 1.20 $ 0.20 flashing(needed for multi color and dark shirts)
2500+ $ 0.30 $ 0.40 $ 0.50 $ 0.60 $ 0.70 $ 0.80
Note what i have highlighted that’s 40 cents per print
figure shirt cost at $2.00 (can go lower can go higher)
let’s get some decent paper for the poster prints, say 10 cents a piece
we know we want at least 1000 pcs to get the .40 rate but we can beef that up with paper so you dont have to raise $2000 for the shirts themselves
2 screens one front one back 1000 front prints 1000 back prints
$ 800 prints front and back
$ 40 screens
$1000 (500 shirts)
$ 100 (1000 posters 500 main logo 500 sponsors) you can get cheaper paper than this if you look
$1940
it is very possible to find 500 shirts as low as $1 a piece when on sale or at a low point on shirt prices (they go up and down like gas)
so that 1940 figure could drop down to as low as 1500 for 500 shirts and a thousand posters
if you have an 11 x 15 inch space of real estate on the back of the shirt
* you can sell a big main sponsor logo at the top for $1000 give him a couple shirts and some posters in the deal plus advertising on your web sites the posters shirts radio ads whatever you do
* sell your mid range logos for $100 there getting a ton of advertising for nothin, go anywhere and try to get 100 advertising (give these guys 1 shirt and one spnsor and 1 front print poster notice on web sites etc.) At least 10 mid range guys before you start to look crowded
* sell bottom level text only spots for $25 to $50 depending on how well the upper slots are selling and how many acts you have at your event.you can fit at least 20 text only spots and not look crowded at all
* so you can see it would be easy to raise the under 2 grand needed for the shirts maybe even turn a profit on just sponsors (my low ball numbers make $2250)
* and you end up with 500 shirts and 1000 posters to advertise your event all over town
if you don’t feel your event/cause is large enough to warrent asking $1000 from the top guy lower him down to $500 and bump the mid rangers up to $200
now let’s sell them at the event:
if your shirt is cool enough you can sell them for at least $10
thats 10 x 300 (you’ll never sell all 500 you’ll give some away and some won’t sell)
$3000 all profit, the shirts are already paid for before the event you don’t have to sell a single one to break even

Every 3 months (which began in December), the Poor Souls Society will put on, 'EMERGENCE!'.
'EMERGENCE!' will hopefully come to represent a place for local artist to present their best in order to show their audience their art and 'emerge', so to speak!
On March 24, 2010, from 7PM to 9PM we will premier 3 types of the Arts: Visual, Spoken Performance and Musical Performance.
The night begins, at the Benton Park Cafe, with Jim Trotter, Jr., a not so easy to describe visual artist whose style is so diverse, you won't know where to begin. Well, we determined that the best place to begin (for us) would be having him showcase his work and wares at 'EMERGENCE!' for you all to see the painter, photographer, sculptor and then some.
Next, we will enjoy a veritable smorgasbord Spoken Word and dramatic prose readings... put on by several local poetic phenoms:
the unflappable Teya King;
"For those of you who have ever wondered about what exactly goes on in Ms. King’s frighteningly unique (or, plain frightening) brain…here’s your chance to hear a sample of her works."
http://poorsoulssociety.wordpress.com/emergence/b-teya-king/
the incomparable Evan 'Copasetic Soul' Hillard:
"He is a ball of blazin’ poetic energy who delivers classic literature channeling it back to it’s common folk roots."
http://poorsoulssociety.wordpress.com/emergence/e-copasetic-soul-evan-hilliard/
the indomitable Kissa Price:
"WARNING! If you have problems facing the truth, as she knows it… do not proceed! I dare you to listen to just one… go ahead, see what happens!"
http://poorsoulssociety.wordpress.com/emergence/c-kissa-price/
Lastly (although not least), there will be a live musical performance... itching for you to hear his unique brand and sound!
The one! The only! Perry Woods:
"Come see Perry Woods perform to catch his intuitive covers, creative mix-ins, and of course, the original work of the Perry Woods Experience."
http://poorsoulssociety.wordpress.com/emergence/d-perry-woods/
The entire evening is free (of charge) and if you come early (say 6:30PM) you will get to eat uninterrupted from the delicious menu of the unique gourmet flavor of the Benton Park Cafe, where owner Jessica Lenzen has poured her blood, sweat and soul into the quality (not literally the food, cause that would not be all that sanitary) of this 1st Class breathe of fresh air! ;-P
"Restaurant critics, neighborhood regulars, and first time visitors always agree about Benton Park Cafe Coffee Bar: the atmosphere is great, the food is superb and the service is outstanding. The restaurant offers a casual atmosphere that is perfect for dining with friends, co-workers, and family members..."
RANDOM NOTES AND THOUGHTS (for those interested in how 'EMERGENCE!' came about and was conspired in my head):
My interest in doing this is not monetary, but for the purposes of bringing the art community in Saint Louis together. I run a nonprofit consulting firm that has taken this on as a project and we just want to see more cooperation and professionalism in our local art community. So we have set out to lead by example and model what we think can accomplished.
I have, for years, watched and met so many local, talented artist over the last 3 decades, that I thought if St. Louisians had a regular opportunity to come to one spot to enjoy the arts, that they would then better support them. I also believe that trolling or scouting for talent in St. Louis is like trying to hit a moving target, so I dreamed of having a centralized location for local and out of town talent scouts to pool from. I have become a poet over the years and have dabbled in Spoken Word as well, so I feel the most connected to the art community.
The event's name is, 'EMERGENE!' and will take place at the Benton Park Cafe at 1900 Arsenal on the corner of Arsenal and Lemp (directly across from Gus' Pretzels). The evening will start off with Jim Trotter, Jr. and his works. After the initial intro and Jim's reveal/presentation we will move into the Spoken Word, poetry and recited prose phase where, 'Copasetic Soul' (Evan Hilliard), Teya King, Kissa Price and others TBA will perform. After that we are having a live musician, Perry Woods to carry us through the night's end (from 8:15PM to 9:00PM).
This 'Emergence" event will repeat every 3 months with either all different artist and art kinds or if we carry over an artist, it will be due to demand. Here's our Blogsite for your viewing pleasure, so you can see all our efforts and other groups that we work alongside of:
http://poorsoulssociety.wordpress.com/
My company (Apotheosis Consulting, Inc) is a nonprofit consulting firm and we are doing this simply to
preserve our local art community.
I envision that this could be the 'come up' for a lot of our local artists to get the recognition they have long
deserved.

Guerilla knitter Pulling the wool: The guerilla knitter's work on display in West Cape May's Wilbraham Park
An unknown person or persons - dubbed 'The Midnight Knitter' by West Cape May residents - is covering tree branches and lamp poles with little sweaters under cover of darkness.
Mayor Pam Kaithern says police are looking into the knitted graffiti, which is technically against the law, as it is being done on public property without permission.
However, the mayor and many residents admit they're delighted by the woolly rainbow of colours that has popped up.

Also, for your Lenten spiritual warfare, here are two versions the popular Via Crucis by St. Alphonsus Liguori. One version is plain, just my voice. The other is the same voice recording, but with the Gregorian chant Sequence Stabat Mater interlaced between the stations.

Work Well With Others
Work Well With Others
Take a wooden matchstick and slice a thin sliver from one side. Then cut the remaining stick in two, lengthwise. Make sure you leave a little of the red tip intact for effect. Discard one half.
Make the aircraft by glueing the sliver of wood - the wing - across the remaining part of the matchstick - the fuselage. If you want, you can use little scraps to make a tail section. Or you can make a biplane. Or you can use a couple of thin slices of balsa to make a huge wing, one that will carry maybe twenty engines. Indulge your aeronautical whims. Think of lift, think of thrust, think of innovation without the benefit of an industrial policy.
Catch a bunch of flies. Put them in a jar and put the jar in the freezer. In a few seconds the flies will be chilled out completely. This is called cryogenics, and it has its drawbacks. For example, the flies will be dead flies if you freeze them too long. Dead flies are no good. So if you're a tinkerer, refrigerate your flies. It takes longer to make them comatose, but they have a higher recovery rate than the ones you leave in the freezer next to the burritos.
Meanwhile, put a tiny drop of rubber cement at each place along the wing where you want an engine.
Take the flies out of the freezer. Attach the abdomen of one frigid fly to each drop of glue. Make sure all the flies are facing the same direction.
Breathe life into the flies. A miracle: A gentle puff of your warm breath will resuscitate the flies.
Launch the aircraft. It should fly like a charm, and, far from being cruel to the flies, you'll be teaching them a new and valuable thing, one that brings us to the virtue of this exercise. For we see that while flies think a lot alike, have a great deal in common, share many of the same hopes and dreams, they never act in concert, as a team, with regard for the worth of other, neighboring flies until forced to by grim circumstance - as, for example, when they are harnessed to fly and either first experience the exhilaration of high-altitude cooperation or die. Redeemed by such a critical choice, they'll soar like a glider, race like a Stealth, and, when overflying a barnyard or kennel, turn into a wicked-awesome dive bomber.
Deepest part of the ocean Life!
Deepest part of the ocean Life!
The Mariana Trench is located in the Pacific Ocean, just east of the 14 Mariana Islands (11″21′ North latitude and 142″ 12′ East longitude ) near Japan. As you probably already know, it is the deepest part of the earth’s oceans, and the deepest location of the earth itself. It was created by ocean-to-ocean subduction, a phenomena in which a plate topped by oceanic crust is subducted beneath another plate topped by oceanic crust.
Fact-The Mariana Trench is 11,033 meters (36,201 feet), (6033.5) fathoms deep. The Pressure at the deepest part of the Mariana Trench is over 8 tons per square inch. The Mariana Trench is 2, 542 km (1,580 miles) long and 69 km (43 miles) wide.

Daddy Yankee’s Performance at Premio Lo Nuestro 2010
Reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee has likely been chosen to promote the Agenda to the Latino community. His performance at the Premio Lo Nuestro awards in Miami is simply a perfect Illuminati fit. At the beginning the performance, a picture of Daddy Yankee standing under a Masonic compass is displayed.
Daddy Yankee’s is surrounded by dancers looking like robotic cyber-police/soldiers. The name of his new single is Descontrol, which means “lose control”. Interesting.
By the way, here is the logo of Premios Lo Nuestro awards.
The Birth of Altermodern | Adbusters Culturejammer Headquarters
I received a crash course in postmodern thought during my first semester at Swarthmore College. In a lesson that was to be repeated throughout my undergraduate education, the professor opened the class by admonishing us to reject binary thinking. As the class was staring at her dumbfounded, she divided the chalkboard in two with a thick vertical line and asked us to name the dualisms that structure our world. After she provided a few examples to get us started – male/female, white/black – we jumped into the game, calling out binaries one after another: rich/poor, smart/stupid, human/animal, cool/lame, skinny/fat … The game went on until the board was full and the air saturated with chalk dust. Pausing a moment, our comparative literature professor asked us if we noticed anything odd about the list we had constructed.
Looking at the chalkboard, we saw an easy answer: on the left of the line were “good” terms – cool, skinny, rich, smart, white – and on the right were their counterparts, the derided terms. In an instant, our class grasped an essential precept of postmodern philosophy: Western thought has hitherto divided the world into a series of binary oppositions that privilege one side over the other. The political implications of the lesson were clear: Oppression can be traced back to the way we think, and hope of liberation rests on escaping this binary thinking.
The postmodern project of overcoming binary thought, however, is more difficult than it may appear. First of all, one cannot simply flip the terms and privilege what was once diminished – that would merely replicate the binary in inverse. The issue is not which term is privileged but the false belief that existence can be divided into two distinct, competing parts. Thus the task of the postmodern activist became the blurring and problematizing of distinctions in order to destroy dualist thinking. It was all done in the name of political liberation. At least that was the intended goal.
